This ongoing project derives from experimental double-exposed colour negatives made years ago. Much of Rapley’s work explores the appropriation and manipulation of existing media, but in this case, he repurposes his own work. There is an uncanny dimension at play here as the artist collaborates with an earlier version of himself. These painterly images exist on the brink of total abstraction, with very little reference to a world we recognise.
